If you are looking at making something fun and magical for Easter, these Easter Egg Meringue Nests are a must and a big hit with grown ups and kids alike. They are simple to make and easy to decorate. The main thing you need is a stable meringue recipe, chocolate easter eggs, fairy floss, and sprinkles.
In the tutorial video below you will watch step by step how I made these Easter Egg Meringue Nests. I used my Italian Meringue recipe which is my popular no crack meringue cookie recipe. Click Here to take you to my full how to Italian Meringue recipe with full how to step by step video. Please note that I baked these Meringue Nests at 100 degrees Celsius for 1 hour. You may need a longer baking time depending on the desired outcome you are after. A longer baking time will yield crunchier, drier meringues.
Items you will need and Instructions:
-Watch my how to video posted above.
-My Italian Meringue Recipe.
-Fairy Floss. I used Pashmak Persian Fairy Floss in Vanilla and Rose flavours.
-Chocolate Easter Eggs.
-Sprinkles. I used Fancy Sprinkles “Little Blue Box”.
-Piping Tips Ateco 509, Ateco 885, Ateco 887, and Tip 857.
-Four Piping Bags. I used 18″ piping bags.
-Four bowls to separate your meringue and colour each in a different colour. I used Rainbow Dust ProGel in colours, Pink, Lemon, Turquoise, and Lime Green. I used one to two drops of Gel Colour into each bowl. Use more or less depending on the colour you desire.
-Spoons or metal spatulas to add the frosting into the piping bags and to mix the food colour into the frosting.
-Food clips or similar to seal the piping bags. I use food clips from Ikea.
